Amy Loeb will likely always remember the exact day she began taking classes at Pure Pilates.
“I started in March of 2023 — it was the day before my 35th birthday,” she says. “I was dealing with body pain that was impacting my daily life and I knew that I needed a new solution.”
Amy’s commitment to Pilates means she’s in the studio three times a week.
“This has remained pretty consistent since I began and there were months on end where I was showing up four times a week,” she says. “I was seeing gains and it was exciting, so I kept up with it! It’s never hard for me to get into my car to head to Pilates class.”
We recently connected with Amy to learn more about her regular Pilates practice and how it has been a game-changer for her. Here’s more of what she shared with us:
How exactly does a regular Pilates practice help you in your everyday life?
Amy: There’s no doubt that the exercise supports the individual with their movements every day. We’ve all been there — when getting out of bed or reaching for groceries in the car becomes challenging or causes pain. This winter, I really noticed a lot more confidence when cross country skiing or even while walking on the snow or ice. Pilates has helped improve my coordination, strength and flexibility. I notice the benefits every day and the reduction in body pain has made it worth the investment tenfold.

What do you specifically like best about Pure Pilates and the instructors?
Amy: I really enjoy the intimate studio setting and I love the community that is developed there. Truthfully, I appreciate how “grounded” the instructors are — their teaching styles aren’t inflated or contrived, which can be rampant in an exercise studio setting. The instructors have been working together for years, and you can feel the passion they bring as soon as you enter the door.
Can you talk about the emotional benefits of following a regular Pilates practice?
Amy: There’s no doubt I’ve benefited emotionally. As a mental health therapist, I have to manage my internal landscape, and Pilates provides an imperative physical outlet that helps me clear my mind and better manage my emotions. Beyond that, there really is something profound about developing your core strength and getting stronger from the inside out. There is a lot of evidence to support the idea that those who have experienced trauma benefit from lifting weights and the process of creating a stronger body. Pilates provides that for me, and I am grateful for it.

Before starting her classes at Pure Pilates, Amy wondered if “a more flexible, pain-free body was no longer within reach.” Over time, she’s realized this absolutely is not the case.
“A regular Pilates practice has brought a lot to my life. I was unhappy with how I looked and battling significant body pain. I’ve lost weight, gained confidence and more significantly, I feel fantastic,” she says. “A lot opens up for the individual when they feel good in their body — it changes the way you relate to yourself and the world around you. I’m grateful for that experience and for what Pure Pilates has provided to me.”
